The emission of nitrogen oxide (NOx), monoxide (NO) and carbon (CO) from vehicle exhaust gas generates an adverse effect to the environment as well human health. Therefore, need reduce such is urgent. decrease can be achieved through use catalytic converter. This study explains application converter prepared activated enhance activity its adsorption ability. was derived banana peels after heating them up at 400 ºC for 1.5 hours activation using natrium hydroxide (NaOH). Several techniques including N2 adsorption-desorption, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy-Electron Dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) were adopted characterize properties. formed then coated with copper. copper tested performance on diesel engine Yanmar TF 70 LY-DI variations in number catalyst layers, namely 1 layer (C1), 2 layers (C2) 3 (C3). Sample three (C3) exhibited highest percentage efficiency reducing emissions concentration 48.76 %; 31.27 % 29.35 NOx, NO CO, respectively.
